First circular: Conference announcement
The 16th International Conference of Historical Geographers will take place in London, at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) from Sunday 5 July to Friday 10 July 2015. The venue was confirmed at the plenary session of the 15th ICHG held in Prague, August 2012.
Contributions are welcome on any aspect of historical geography, including focused empirical, theoretical, and historiographical contributions to historical geography and related fields including history of cartography, history of science, and environmental history.
The participation of early career scholars and postgraduate research researchers is positively encouraged.
In order to help plan the London ICHG 2015 meeting and ensure the involvement and participation of the world-wide historical geography community, several committees have been set up. An International Scientific Committee, chaired by Graeme Wynn (University of British Columbia) has been established, and a Local Organising Committee, supported by an Advisory Group of historical geographers drawn from across the UK and Ireland, is overseeing the running of the Conference.
A Call for Papers and Sessions will be issued in March 2014. The deadline for receipt of proposals will be September 2014. A draft programme will be published in January 2015.
Plenary speakers will include William Cronon (University of Wisconsin), Catherine Hall (UCL) and Simon Schaffer (Cambridge University).
The Conference will include a full range of academic sessions, plenary lectures, social events and field trips within and beyond London.

Second circular: Call for proposals
Call for Papers
We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for papers and for sessions at the 16th ICHG to be held in London, 5-10 July 2015.
Papers are welcome on any aspect of historical geography, including empirical, theoretical and historiographical aspects of the field and related disciplines including the history of cartography, history of science and environmental history.
Proposals for papers and for sessions (the latter containing full details of speakers and abstracts) should be submitted on standard forms available here to admin@ICHG2015.org no later than Friday 15 September 2014.
Location
The conference will take place at the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers), 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR, England, between Sunday 5 July and Friday 10 July 2015.
Programme
A full provisional programme will be published in January 2015.
The opening session will be on the afternoon/evening of Sunday 5 July. The main conference sessions will be held during the following Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday will be devoted to mid-conference field visits (see below).

ICHG Delegates are warmly invited to attend the first British Academy Geography Lecture, to be delivered by Professor Bill Cronon (Wisconsin) at the British Academy, Carlton House Terrace, on Tuesday 7 July 2015 (6pm).
Study Visits and Fieldtrips
An extensive programme of mid-conference field visits to a wide range of archives, museums and field sites in and around London is planned. Further details are now available here. Booking for these visits will be included within the conference registration process, available from September 2014.
Conference delegates are also invited to join one of two post-conference residential fieldtrips to West of England/Welsh Borders and to Cambridge.

Conference registration will be open from September 2014.
The conference registration fee will be in the region of £280 (£140 for unwaged, including students) plus any charges for study visits, field trips and conference dinner as appropriate.
